This is not a 'blog'

ilandlope.com redirects to landlope.blogspot.com  - presently entirely  a quick work-in-progress version, no design, no time to apply myself to the look, as i dont believe in computing during the summer. The blogspot site is a free website temporarily used  - they are quick and easy to use. I have several.

This is all a first quick draft merely to perhaps gain a few who are on the same page.

'Moral support'  - convivial fellowship, do matter. And sadly 'walking' or just being around (essentially playground)  places like the SW (sort of marooned here since spring 2023)  it is hard to find even one adult proper conversation.

Over fifteen, but most especially 8 years, i have collected thoughts into essays audios and some film on 'linked' themes.

All come under the 'landlope' umbrella - although as i audio waffled yesterday maybe  jpoining in with the (urban/suburban) tendency to  purpose a word specifically to almost create a new notion, is in itself too self aggrandising for me. (eg 'wild' swimming - country folk like me have been jumping in rivers all our lives to cool off in the occasional very hot British summer)

The themes may be summed up as genuine 'simplicity' - to save ENERGY (personal energy i mean, if one lives most homespun, threadbare, humble and needs little one has time and energy free for more important thangs than bourgeois appearance).

environmentalism - ahhhahhh but we have a problem - most over the last 20 years has FAILED....  i have lived in previously pretty good environments such as by the River Wye in the Hay and Glasbury regions, even if i am mainly a hill dweller by choice,  and my (ex) friends - the supposedly environmentally 'aware' people of that (most BBC covered ) place... failed to stop fatal pollution that made it as good as sterile from the early 2000s. As with all the other rivers of that region.

These matters - the truth - that no environmentalist dedicates themselves over years (what it takes) with genuine solidarity, i have written up elsewhere (i had to leave my last region MAy 2023 to do so as the British pretend to value free speech and truth.... not when it points the finger at their farm or hamlet - it can be VERY bad for ones health to do so...  even fatal).

My reference in a video eating raw eggs to saving time, is not some gimmick... for years applying myself to the excruciatingly dull and hard work of attempting to link people in fringe regions who may care about the environment and DO something...and then foster some solidarity, has been so so time consuming that every moment saved for living...over 53ish that means lots of healthy activity, ideally in the environment...  i had to so ultra simplify my life into a whole range of time saving habits...each one brings me joy, though many may be squeamish at them... keeping the eyes bright in such scenarios (rather a  hall of mirrors) is what the landloping mode is. In other words to some extent 'beating the system' (or the 'beast' or 'machine' so many call it nowadays).

NOT ever letting the buggers grind you down, whether they are ones own 'side' or the other.. there are only two sides  - the greedy selfish business-orientated type - the majority, who nowadays even in very rural places 'greenwash' their activities with spin and bullshit...   and the other side is those who understand that reducing STUFF, and our footprint, has to mean always, and bigtime...  sadly the environmental movements - some i even ran, make so much about finding imaginary fault within ones own 'side' and the lack of sustained solidarity is disastrous...

I gave up. But the new gift i found - out of the blue, is meeting so many European walkers the last year.

Myself i do not 'need' the hobby or occupation of any kind of formal 'walking'  - one can simply walk up and down a local hill for 10 hours a week and get the same bodily essential benefit, however my other bee in my bonnet - sadly a lived bee for ar too long, is how the incomers to rural places, not brought up in the countryside, are almost allergic to the countryside - yes they may make silly comments about smell and shit.. (no shit no food) ... but freak at any insect or the weather... i find it astonishing how even in fairly remote small towns of the SW midsummer, if there is one shower in the air, the ex suburban / city folk don their Hunter wellies ... performing a kind of 'i am a country person' performative  ritual... when actual country people know wellies wear out quickly and are increasingly expensive, so keep them for when you really need them. (never mind them having a large environmental footprint - loads of rubber that never gets recycled, so keep use down to a minimum - i can assure that a pair of ankle length Dunlop wellies twenty quidish, lasts merely 200km... i know they were my only winter walking boot of choice some years.... STORMSURE will fix cuts in ANYthing - including wellies.. but cannot fix soles made of plasticine that wear out .... i fix and keep everything going for years no matter what breaks... that's environmentalism too  )

Landlope is just a label (though a few have said to me 'great word' ) that i will collect a range of aforesaid material made over the last few years.

It should be a Salt Path....  or 'Tresspasser' - he is fashionable....  -  except therein is the thing - i lived in very rural lands for all my outh from about age 9 and we didnt have the concept of 'trespass'. Most land - surrounding farms, we saw as land we may shortcut through by right to get where we needed to be... a few specific fields, knowing the farmer especially sour and a bit ranty one may avoid...  of course nearer conurbations that may be an issue - because sadly especially the last decade  more people leave horrid litter and leave gates open...  but by focusing on 'trespass' i thin k it takes away from innate freedom to roam as a way of being...always....

Thing is there must be NO 'self pity' in any way - landlope above all is the opposite of pity; or feeling sorry for oneself about ANYthing... .
